There is no cure for Poplitues muscle strain, but there are treatments to reduce pain and discomfort, Advil works wonders. These types of health treatments are ambiguous at best, you should consult a physician before doing anything to "official" icy-hot pads are great, and fluids do as much as-the stereotype.

Not true, a combination of pressure and myofascial techniques will bring relief.  add a comment

You're in the right area. Google the term and look at the pictures. The standard treatment for a sprain is RICE, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. If it doesn't feel better in a few days be sure to contact your health provider as it could be something more difficult to treat.

The most important thing to do is to raise leg, as the popliteus is between the knee and the thigh. You have to apply ice to the injured area.

Any muscle strain should be kept as immobile as possible for the duration of the healing which may take up to a couple weeks. Swelling can be treated with ice, steroid shots or medication. The best treatment however will be staying off the leg as much as possible and elevating the leg when sitting.
