To treat heel spurs a person should rest his foot and avoid the activities that make the symptoms worse. You can also apply ice to reduce inflammation which causes pain.

These are very painful and usually removing the spur in the only thing to do. Wear a gel pad after the operation and no backless shoes.

Your shoes may be partly to blame. First, make sure you are wearing really great shoes. I switched to Birkenstocks and they have really helped with my heel spurs. Make sure you stay away from high heels and flip flops. Those types of shoes will only make the problem worse.

People with heel spurs are advised to rest their feet to lessen the incidence of pain on the foot. Ice packs may be applied on the affected area. One may also take anti-inflammatory over-the-counter medications such as Bayer's aspirin or Advil's Ibuprofen. Stretching and exercising the fot is also recommended, as well as using shoe inserts and splints.
