What is the time frame for getting tetanus shots?

I have not had one in several years and am concerned that I am past due for one?

You should have had one between 13-18 yrs of age, this would be the Td vaccine and you should have a booster every ten years. If you haven't had the Tdap shot, you should have that as your booster. If you incur a dirty or puncture wound, have a booster.

Tetanus shots are administered once and then a booster is required every ten years. However if you have a wound and it has been more than five years since your last booster, a tetanus shot is required.

In general the power of a tetanus injection will work in a human body for about six months. In children belonging to the group of age below five years, the tetanus shots will have its powerful effect even for more than one years. Tetanus shot is required in case if any substance consisting rust makes an injury to human body.
