You are thinking of laminate flooring. This comes in light and dark colors. It is usually put down either in square that are glued down or in strips that you snap together.

They are all called "Faux Wood Tiles". The key is to find the best-priced manufacturer. I also have these in my home. I purchased Anderson, and I love them. There is also similar products made by Armstrong, Mannington, Congoleum, Amtico, Flux,Duraplex, Pergo, Wilsonart, and Norco. Just be careful with price. Wher some are inexpensive, some cost more to install.

Laminate flooring! Laminate flooring can be placed over existing flooring. It clicks and locks together, making it easy to install. It will outlast most other floorings, for decades. Always buy extra laminate incase you make a bad cut.

Home Depot carries a line of tile that mimics the look of wood called Allure. It comes in light, medium or dark wood tones and is easy to install.

It's called laminate or pergo. They come in strips like wood and both are still fairly costly but lots cheaper then real wood. The cheapest way to go is buy wood look square tile from a hardware store and lay them yourself. The wood look does last pretty good but doesn't bring the re-sale value real wood does.

If you are looking for wood-like flooring for a fraction of the cost, you should purchase pergo. It is easy to install, less expensive than wood and looks natural.
