The one that manages not to get squashed, trapped or poisoned by humans gets my vote. Bees have a very complex social structure, as do ants. None of the bugs I've encountered are especially bright, but if they manage to survive for millions of years, they're no dummies.

Bees are probably the smartest bug. They can plan their route advance, navigate over great distance, and recent studies prove that they can count to around 4 (http://www. cosmosmagazine. com/news/2496/bees-can-count-four-say-researchers)

In my opinion the ant is the smartest. Each has a duty to perform whether it be a worker, protector, builder or the provider. They store up for their future allowing nothing to stand in their way. Loyal to their group, their goal is to strive for perfection of their role. UMM....sounds like a mother!

I would guess that the smartest bug is the spider. They work hard to weave their webs, then cleverly capture their prey, so that they can eat and continue to create more webs. They go through an intricate process over and over again to live their lives.

I think the ant is the smartest bug around. With tunnels more complex than most peoples route to work and never getting lost. Then they manage to get inside you house and take over. What can you do then except hire an exterminator ?
