Cyprus' favor a Mediterranian climate. This means not only temperatures between fifty and one hundred degrees but also humidity is important as well to the plants growth and continued longevity.

Keep this tree in almost any conditions and it will survive. It is most commonly found in warm, swamp like conditions. It has long, reaching roots to drink in the moisture so it would not do well in a northern climate which has frozen ground all or part of the year.
