What is the proper Bar Mitzvah etiquette?

My grandchild is Jewish, and I am not.

Perhaps the most important part of a Bar Mitzvah is providing a gift to show your grandson that you recognize and respect his transition into adulthood. During the ceremony itself, you simply need to sit quietly. During the party part, behave as you would at a wedding.

Since you are not Jewish you will not be able to attend the ceremony at the temple. There will probably be a party afterward. You will be expected to dress nice and to bring a gift for him.
