The process of deadheading petunias, or any flower, is to cut off the blooms after they have died. It's best to use small clippers to insure a clean cut.

Petunias are very easy to deal with. All you have to do is pull the dead flower off. You do not need to snip the stem. If the petunias are blooming make sure to pull the dead heads off daily since it will promote better growth of fresh flowers.

The process is basically the same as for other flowers. It's best to wait till the flower bud has completely dried up then just pull it off.

Snip under the flower. You can use a snipper or just use your finger nails. This procedure allows the flower to bush out and grow new blooms. Sometime they will bloom over the existing flower and the old flower will turn brown, just brush the old flower off.
