The Queensland heeler is a very energetic dog, and they are well known to be very affectionate to their owners. Around strangers they will act cautious which make them great guard dogs. It is recommended children 2 years old or younger should be kept away from them.

These dogs are very loyal to their owners, but without socialization tend to be suspicious of outsiders and aggressive toward other dogs. They become destructive without enough exercise.

The Queensland heeler, also known as an Austrailian Cattle Dog, is NOT an apartment dweller. These dogs need the chase to run and exercise a lot. Trying to coop such a dog up is asking for destructive behavior and excessive barking. Earlt socialization is also needed.

The Queensland heeler has a reserved personality when around strangers. However, they can be fiercely protective when they feel like their property and/or humans are being threatened. They are intelligent and can be described as being hard-headed and stubborn. Once you have befriended a heeler, you will have a friend for life.

Blue Heelers are cattle dogs but any heeler can be trained to herd anything you want it to but I believe the Queensland Heeler is a sheep dog. You can do a search of them on the internet and it will give you all the details on the specific breed you are interested in.

Cattle dogs are herders, so they like to have a job to do, rounding up toys etc. However, they will also round up people if their herding drive is very strong so be careful around small children!
