In order for there to be an annulment of marriage there has to be no children or marital assets. There are many reasons that an annulment of marriage can happen including, fraud, mental inparement, and forced marriage.

Usually as long as there has been no physical consumation of the marriage an annulment will be allowed. It may vary from state to state.

Laws vary from state to state but in general an annulment can only be obtained if the marriage was performed under false or misleading information--such as a minor lying about her age. Another possible reason to grant an annulment is if the marriage was never consumated. In other words, the parties never had sex.
