What is the etiquette for thank you cards?

The best timing for sending thank you cards is within two weeks of receiving the gift. This time frame is proper because it is soon after the gift was given, so it shows true appreciation for the present, and doesn't allow time for the gift-giver to forget about the event.

Generally you should send them at least one to two weeks after the event. A month after would be pushing it.
