Ethnic groups are defined by cultural factors like language, religion, nationality, or beliefs. Race is a broader category that is defined by physical appearance, such as skin color, facial type, texture and color of hair, cranial structure, and other physical attributes. Both are based on assumed common ancestry and genealogy.

An ethnic group relates to a person birth place or region of birth, such as Asia, or Africa or Europe, race pertains to a certain group of people based on color , religion, or history.
