Mold and mildew are both types of fungi. Mold is more apt to grow on foods (but can still be found in bathrooms) , while mildew prefers bathroom surfaces or paper or cloth. Mildew tends to be white or gray and mold can be red, green, black, or blue. Both types of fungi should be eradicated with bleach-type solutions.

Mold and mildew are both types of fungi, but they usually have different colors and textures. They both like warm, moist environments. Mold most often grows on food, and mildew is usually found in showers or on fabric or paper. Mold comes in a variety of colors, but mildew is usually gray or white.
