Both the jaguar and leopard are spotted but the rosette in jaguars is larger with a spot in the middle. Jaguars have a larger skull for the jaw they have kills prey differently than the leopard. Jaguars are also distributed in the Neotropics whereas leopards are in the Paleotropics.

Mostly it is where they live. Jaguars are jungle big cats while leopards are Savannah big cat. Usually jaguars are also a bit smaller than a leopard and do not always hunt from trees like a leopard. Leopards make a habit of eating and hunting from trees, spending most of their life there.
