At a private Catholic School my son's uniforms run $26 for pant, $19 for shorts and the polo shirts with stitched logo are $18 each. All black non-logo shoes are also required, typically $50.00. I puchase 2 short, 3 pant, and 5 shirts each year.

They cost about 100 dollars and yes they are cost effective. Most parents would spend 1000 dollars or more on a child's clothes for the whole school year because of the brand name factor and all. Also, wearing uniforms reduces peer pressure in the school that results from fitting in by form of clothes.
