A digital camera's memory card can cost upward of $25, even more, sometimes as low as. From a $9. It's more costly than a roll of film - say, Tri-X, which costs about $7 for a 35-pic roll. Memory card hold more, are sometimes reused, and hence is more cost-effective.

I shoot Fuji Neopan 400,which is a B&w film which sell for abour 2,5-3$ per 35mm roll. Because i develop myself i can't give you a roll cost, but i would average it at around 1 dollar in material costs, irespective of equipment and time.I also scan the film on an Epson v750 and someday i hope to graduate to medium format

Over the last few years the cost of film has risen sharply making it harder increasingly difficult to still shoot with film. Digital camers are cheaper and get more pictures.

Regular, 35mm film can still be purchased for a relatively cheap price. Digital, you pay a higher, one time price for a memory card, rather than continually buying cheaper film. The pictures are different, and it really depends on individual preference.
