Drywall installation can run from $1 to $8 per square foot, depending on the quality of the material. Now, drywall is available with insulation and weatherstripping built in. This will cost more money. You can also have a glossy finish applied before you apply it to the wall. I would just go with the basic and paint it.

Drywall contractors vary in price depending on many factors. It pays to shop around and comparison shop, but the standard rate is $1.00 per square foot. When shopping for contractors remember you get what you pay for.

The cost of dry wall installation varies by region, and is usually figured by the square foot. Handing and taping goes for about $.25 each. You will pay about the same for materials. So $.75 per square foot is a good place to start.

Measure widths and lengths of all walls and ceilings to be covered. Multiply the widths x lengths = square feet. Divide total square footage by 32 (one 4' x 8' drywall sheet covers 32 sq.ft)= number of sheets needed. Multiply number of sheets by 40 = cost. Then add in cost of finishing mud and tools.
