What is the best wood to use for roasting sticks?

Any wood is great as long as it isn't freshly cut. Freshly cut wood will not burn, no matter how hard you try. The best wood can be purchased from a campsite or local gas station as it ensures that it is dried out properly. Sometimes just grabbing brush off of the ground makes a good starter fire.

The best roasting stick comes from a branch that is green wood. Do not pick up branches from the ground. These are old and my have insect in them. snap a branch that is long enough to keep you away from the fire but not too long or it will bend with the food on it.

Any green limb from any tree as long as it is not poisonous! We always try to get limbs from oak trees. We cut it from the trees, the ones on the ground may be too dry and could catch fire :)
