Typically, the best kind of oil for making a dressing is an extra-virgin olive oil. A less expensive brand is probably fine, although red labels carefully: a label indicating that it is a "light" oil generally means light in color, or lighter tasting, not lower in calories!

well, it depends on what type of salad you are making. the traditional classic is a quality first press olive oil. If you are trying to be creative and making an asian inspired salad, with say; mandarin oranges, and almond slices you could try sesame oil.

Extra virgin olive oil is a great choice for salads. It has a great flavor and is also very healthy. Get a high quality one for the best flavor.

I recommend just plain olive oil- you don't need special salad oil. It's very healthy for you, plus it adds taste.
