The best personal video recorder would have to be the Kodak Zi-8. Not only is it easy to use but it's very well made and shoots true 1080 High Definition Video along with 720 60p for slow motion video. An excellent consumer camera.

I would go with a Canon or a Sony. I worked at Best Buy in that department. They are quality manufactures who have been making them for years. Few Returns.

The best personal video recorder right now might just be the Flip video camera. In terms of price, quality of picture, and portability is is very hard to beat. You can even get an HD version.
