Clavamox is a common antibiotic prescribed to dogs and cats alike when they are facing afflictions such as urinary tract infections. UTI's are painful and can cause major problems if not treated so make sure you take your pet to a veteranarian as soon as possible if you believe they are suffering from any type of urinary problem.

There are a lot of good treatments, but none that you can "prescribe". If your friend has a UTI, he needs treatment. Feeding greek yogurt can prevent or treat infections.

UTI must be diagnosed by a veterinarian who will then prescribe the proper medication to treat the problem. There is no one "best" medication. Consul a veterinarian.

If you suspect your dog has a UTI, you should consult a qualified vet to determine the appropriate treatment. Usually, the UTI is treated with an antibiotic or with antimicrobial drugs. The most common drugs used are cephalexin, amoxicillin, and enrofloxacin. Your dog should drink plenty of water and you could try adding some lemon juice for acidity.

Clavimox, a prescription available from your veterinarian, is the gold standard for treatment of a urinary tract infection. The med is costly, there are less expensive alternatives available, but this is the best.

You will need to consult your vet about it. The vet can tell you which meds are best for your dog.
