The consensus is that "Pro-Tools" is the best system to use for vocal clarity and mixing ability. If you are doing acapella, the quality of your booth and microphone are more important that the software. Other programs besides Pro-Tools to consider (my order of preference) 1. Screen blast ACID 2. Fruityloops 3. Cakewalk (I hate it, but others like it)

The best audio recording software for voice recordings comes packaged free with Windows. Make sure your computer microphone is working and in Windows 7 find the Sound Recorder applet.

It really depends on how much you want to spend, and other factors like how many channels you want to record at the same time. If you're on Mac and want to record multitrack, there's only one sensible choice, which is Logic. On the PC, there's many options.

Audacity is the best software. It provides clean User Interface to accomplish the task. It is also self explanatory. Navigating the software is easy. It is the free and OPEN SOURCE software.
