When you are shopping on regular Amazon, you buy products directly from Amazon. Through Amazon Marketplace you can buy products from other sellers. Amazon usually displays standard prices and sells new products, but you can buy used or new products for various prices on marketplace. It is also very useful for buying rare items, out-of-print books for example.

The Amazon marketplace includes different retailers other than Amazon itself. Browsing and check-out will be the same. You will just have to pay attention to details such as estimated shipping times and whether items qualify for free shipping, as those may vary between retailers.

When people talk about "regular Amazon", they mean e-commerce company being the merchant selling the stuff. Amazon Marketplace is not different from Amazon, but a part of amazon. "Amazon Marketplace" is one of the functions of where individual sellers (like you, me or anyone else) sell used stuff.

Amazon marketplace is a online shopping network. Amazon is a online retailer of various products. Amazon marketplace allows to resell used and new items, Amazon does not allows to resell.
