What is the actual shape of the moon?

The moon, technically, is an oblate spheroid, as are all planets and most moons. An oblate spheroid is basically a rotated ellipse. Planets, and larger moons in our solar system, are all close to spheres so we use spheres as an approximation in most scientific calculations.

The moon is a sphere, just like the Earth. Like the Earth, it has mountains and valleys. In fact, the moon has many craters. However, its basic shape is round.
