Silver spoons are traditionally made with a variety of beautiful crests. Since the 1970s, people have removed the bowl of the spoon, smoothed the cut edge, and shaped the spoon's handle into a silver ring. Because spare silver spoons are common at garage sales and only a few tools are needed, these unique jewelry pieces are becoming popular again.

Spoon rings were popular during the 1970's. Generally, people used old silver sterling spoons and bent and twisted the spoons into rings. Usually, small spoons were used for rings and larger ones were transformed into bracelets.

Spoon rings are rings made from spoons, usually with silver or silverplate materials. They came about because the handles of spoons often have ornate or interesting designs, and this is a good way to use a damaged or bent spoon that has no matching spoons. The handle is twisted into a shape that can be worn as a ring.

Old silver tableware came in decorative patterns and can be used to make rings and other jewelry. Measure and cut the end of a spoon. Clamp a ring mandrel (sized steel bar) or bar in a vise; pound the silver into a ring using a mallet. File any rough edges.

Spoon ring making takes silver spoons and converts them to rings. Not much is needed just silver spoon, mallet, ring shaper, and possibly other tools. These were made in the 70's.
