What is so special about eucalyptus trees?

Why do koalas prefer them?

They eat certain types of eucalyptus leaves exclusively and there are a couple of eucalyptus varieties they must have to survive. Koalas like to "wedge" themselves between the branches, spending most of their time in these trees. Koalas make their homes only where eucalyptus trees exist.

Humans and animals both prefer different things. I guess Koalas either enjoy the shade or the smell. They might actually enjoy the mint flavor from the laeves or branches. Humans enjoy them for the smell as I know they cause a mess of debris on the ground .
