What is salt dough?

Salt dough is a dough used in a similar manner to modeling clay. When left out it will dry and harden in whatever shape it was molded into. There are several recipes for making salt dough but a basic dough is made from flour, salt, and water.

Salt dough is simply dough with salt added to it instead of sugar. Dough with sugar would be used to make cookies, but dough with salt is used for ornaments.
