Regressive autism is a heartbreaking form of the disease. A child seems to be developing normally, but then goes backward, losing social skills, language, or both. This usually happens between the ages of 15 and 30 months. Children that age know few words, and some experts believe that the autistic child was only parroting spoken language in the first place.
