I believe the old timers disease you are talking about is actually medically reffered to as Alzheimers disease. Alzheimers disease is a disease where the peron suffers memory loss.

Old-timers disease is actually Alzheimers disease. Many people call it this for some reason, I guess because you are usually old when you get it. It is a disease with dementia that progresses to the point of death.

Alzheimer's Disease causes senility, loss of memory, confusion. Although not necessarily caused by this particular disease, these are all symptoms that people commonly consider inevitable in old age.
