Depending on the method used for repair of the cruciate, swelling can vary. However, an amount of swelling that can be off putting often occurs. If you are really worried, give your a vet a call. Most likely your canine friend is fine.

My dog had ACL surgery and did not experience swelling or pain at all afterward. In fact was able to walk well almost immediately. Bring yours back to vet immediately

After any surgery, some swelling is common. Be sure to check the incision and mkae sure it does not become warm, as that may be a sign of infection.

Well, apparently swelling is normal. However if the swelling gets worse and stays around that's bad. If there is pain with the swelling that's bad. But a little swelling is ok just as long as the dog doesn't refuse to put any weight on the leg after a few weeks.
