The mAh, or milliamp-hour is a unit of charge. Typically batteries measure their capacities in mAh, and the magnitude of this capacity gives you some indication of how long a battery will last for a particular purpose. Normally for example a 1500 mAh battery will last 1.5 times as long as a 1000 mAh battery doing the same thing.

It is the storage that is available for any particular battery. This is a number and the higher the number the more storage that is available.
