Love in Buddhism is something cherished, but at a distance. To Buddhists, love can sometimes become a form of attachment to an object, which is considered an illusion and a hindrance to enlightenment. Thus, love must be held in an appropriate balance and not become an indulgence.

To Buddhists, love is a state where you want others to be happy. It is not conditional on other people's behavior, and it is not romantic in nature. Instead, love is a state of unconditional desire for everyone else to be happy; Love results in unselfishness. There is no love of self (as there is no self to love).

Love means to give or help others without considering the return in Buddhism. Treat every people the same as how you treat your family. Everyone is part of your family, and love them from the bottom of your heart without any motive or intention. If someone is making mistake, forgive him/her.

In Buddhism it is best to start first answer what is note good love. All objects are destine to perish. An attachement to any one of them in particular will ultimately cause pain. However the acceptance and care for all things in the moment at which they are recive is the essence of good and pure love.

I'm not sure that all Buddhists would consider Buddhism a religion. In some ways it is more of a philosophy. Different sects of Buddhism have such different believes that giving one definition of love for all of Buddhism wouldn't really work.

Buddists almost believe in a sort ot non attachment. Love as such does not have any big meaning than matrialistc relationship. Love will naturally lead to sex and material pleasure. That is the basic requirement of life so that the newer gnerations are manintained. Platonic love based relatioship may not have high ground in Buddism
