A marriage can be annulled if either spouse misrepresents themselves going into the marriage in regards to consent to sexual activity, desire to have children, being legally able to marry, or if not able to consent to enter into marriage. It is required by the Catholic church to remarry, in addition to a legal divorce.

Even though there are several other considerations depending on religion, ethnicity, etc.., you must prove one of 7 basic requirements (underage, relatives, fraud, currently married, impotent, duress, incompetent)

You have to have a just cause for wanting an annulment, and depending on your state it has to be proven. If it is proven you would go through the same legal process as divorce but your marriage will be declared as never happening.

One person in the marriage needs to go down to their family court to have the marriage annuled. It is easily done but will also have filing fees. When the annulment has been approved, it shows that the marriage never was done in the first place.

In order to get a marriage annulled it has to meet certain criteria that varies by the state. There is normally a period of time it has to fall within, normally around 1 week, it typically also has to be signed by both parties, & valid reasons must be given.

An annulment is something you can get in the Catholic church if you were never physically intimate. If you are just trying to separate, get a divorce.
