You should use softwood cuttings to propogate your begonias. If you take cuttings from the begonias that you bring indoors for the winter, you can root them in soil and, come spring, you'll have a fresh new bloom.

Take a cutting about 3 inches long, remove the bottom leaves and any blooms or buds from the top. Put the end of the cutting in either moist perlite, peat moss, or a loose potting soil mix. Keep barely moist, and put in good light but no direct sun.

This plant is very easy to propagate from cuttings. To do this most successfully a root growth hormone should be applied to the cutting. Most garden stores will carry such a product. You could also try to propagate from seed but this is more time consuming and dificult, so cuttings are recomended.

Mid-summer is the time to propagate. Let the plants get longer than usual, take a cutting using a stem with a new node. Put it in water and it will root..

Take two to three inches of new growth from a blooming wax begonia. Remove most of the leaves and any flowers. Make sure you use fresh potting soil. Place the stem in the soil and pack the dirt around it. Of course, don't forget to water. Also, let the young plantings get some light everyday.
