Make sure new sink fits in place. If not, compensate by cutting more room allowed by the depth of the sink.

If the sink you have is just an insert into your counter, it's a matter of replacing the insert and fixtures. If a solid counter piece, all must be replaced.

Measure the existing sink to see what size is needed to replace it. Next, check under the sink counter to see what types of basins will be supported. Verify the depth of sink which your existing counter top can house.

Assuming the replacement sink is the same size and no resizing of the cabinet is required, the only thing you would have to do is shorten the down pipe. That would be the pipe that rises vertically up from the floor. Just shorten that pipe by enough so that the pipes from the sink will meet the down pipe.

Assuming you have enough room in the sink cabinet for a deeper sink, the only real modifications you need to work out are with the drain. Because the new sink drain would be lower in the cabinet the old drain pipes may need to be shortened or replaced.

You will need to measure the new sink, and the sure it will fit the space occupied by the existing one. Of particular importance is to ensure that you have space UNDER the existing sink - be sure to take a debth measurement.

Replacing kitchen sinks is not very difficult, but it can be an involved process. Replacing a sink with another sink of the same depth is never that much of a problem, however you could run into issues with plumbing if the new sink is deeper. The drainage pipes below might need to be replaced if the new sink interferes.

First, the rough plumbing for the water and waste lines must be low enough to accommodate the deeper sink, otherwise, they will have to be relocated. Depending on the type of sink, it needs to be removed & the rough opening measured otherwise countertop modifications will be necessary. Don't forget to shut off the water before starting.

If you are careful to buy a new sink that fits the perimeter demensions of the old sink, that will reduce the problems. The depth of the sink will affect plumbing connections, and could interfere with equipment installed under the sink, like water softening tanks and pipes, and garbage disposals.

As a plumber i can tell you a few things, but the most important thing is to make sure your drain height will work.
