Inner shield welding is an arc welding process where one continuously feeds wire to supply filler metal to the arc. The wire used is not solid and is tubular. The agents placed inside the tube are necessary to shield the arc from the surrounding atmosphere. Inner shield welding was originally used as a replacement for stick welding.

Innershield welding is a form of arc welding using a continuously fed wire for filler material. Instead of the wire being solid, it is tubular. Innershield is continuous meaning you save money by not stopping and starting as often as you would with regular arc welding. There are as many safety hazards with innershield as there are with other types also.
