White gravy is usually made with milk and flour. Brown gravy is made from some kind of meat sauce or broth then the flour is added to thicken it to gravy. Hope that helps.

Basically white gravy is a base of broth or a bit of fat and flour. Make a roo of two tablespoons of flour and two tablespoons of broth or fat, stir until smooth. Add a cup of milk and stir until smooth, season with salt and pepper. Yummy!

I make a white gravy from a base of 4oz flour and a generous knob of butter. Add herbs to complement the dish and add 1/4 cup cream for an indulgent finish.
