Hosel Hitting, is also known as "shanking. " The Hosel of the club is the portion of the clubhead that the shaft fits into. Striking the golf ball with this part of the clubhead can cause it to move at a shocking angle.

The hosel is the part where the shaft comes down and connects into the club head. Hosel hitting is also commonly called shanking the ball. When this happens, the ball usually goes in some crazy direction.
