Federalism is political theory or advocacy in which a group of members are bound together with a governing representative head. The term federalism is also used to describe a system of the government in which final authority is constitutionally divided between sub-units and a center. It is also the doctrine of the Federalist Party.

Federalism is a government system with a central government as well as local or state governments. The states have at least half the power, with the rest federal.
