Giardia is a parasite that is not initially fatal but can cause some serious health problems with your animal! The parasite interferes with the normal absorption of the animals food, causing weight loss, malnutrition and dehydration. This is treatable fortunately though, there are several over the counter medications and your vet can also prescribe some!

Not medical advice: Canine Giardia can occur when your dog eats or drinks contaminated. It can be diagnosed by fecal testing from your vet. Symptoms include but not limited to diarrhea, blood in stool, discolored fecal matter and weight lost. Giardia effects the animal by paritally digesting and processing food. Seek medical attention from you vet.

Giardia is a parasite that dogs can contract from drinking dirty or contaminated water or coming in contact with contaminated feces. Giardia interferes with the absorption of food, so it keeps a dog from getting proper nutrition. It often causes diarrhea. For young dogs or dogs that are malnourished already, Giardia can be deadly.
