The difference between candle pin bowling and regular bowling is that three smaller balls with no holes in them are used to play the game. It started in Worcester Massachusetts and is still played in eastern Canada and the northeastern US.

It regular 10-pin bowling, except you get three throws per turn, ball is smaller , do not have holes, pins are thinner and are not cleared between each throw.

Candle pin bowling is basically regular bowling except with thinner necks on the pins. And it can be played in the U.S although I haven't seen it much.

Candlepin bowling is a type of bowling where the pins resemble a candle and ball is smaller than a traditional bowling bowl. It is played mainly on the East Coast.
