What is an example of a "positive behavior intervention"?

The word "intervention" is negative to me.

The child gets rewarded as soon as positive behavior occurs. All negative behavior is ignored. The reward must be something the child loves and can get no other way.

Don't let the word intervention get you down. This just means that you're intervening to stop negative behavior, or behavior you don't like. When you use positive measures with children, specifically, you won't cause negative effects.
