This device looks similar to a plastic orthodontic retainer that has a tooth or teeth on it. Ususally used as temporary fix until you can get a bridge or implant.

A flipper holds the place of the tooth that was removed and holds the place of the tooth until you get your new on which should be an implant or bridge.

A flipper is a plastic tooth on a form that fits snugly over your gums. It temporarily fills the gap in your mouth when you've lost a tooth. It looks just like a real tooth, but it is not as strong, although some people do wear them for years.
