There is not a daily requirement for sugar. In fact, many would agree that the less sugar you have per day, the better! Sugar is a natural ingredient of fruit however, and the food pyramid recommends between 2 and 4 servings of fruit per day.

If you look at the food pyramid, you will see that sugars are of course at the top. Your sugar intake should not exceed ten percent of your carbohydrates.

The answer would depend upon whether a person is suffering from diabetes or not? For a normal person, 2 tablespoons or 5 teasapoons of sugar a day would be sufficient.

You don't want to eat too much sugar it can be bad for your blood sugar if you eat to much. You should only eat a little bit. Like a teaspoon no more. I hope that helps answer your question. I think that would be a reasonable amount of sugar to eat.
