A Miniature greyhound stands between 13 to 15 inches and weighs 8 to 18 pounds .They are affectionate dogs and for this reason are an ideal companion. The dogs do well around children, however due to their fragile build, it is extremely important that children are coached on the proper way to play and care for this dog.

The "miniature" greyhound is actually a registered breed known as the Italian greyhound. They are accepted by the AKC as their own breed. This is a good breed that the AKC rates as excellent companions, good for families, good with children, but can be injured by rough play with younger children- should be treated like a "toy" breed for hardiness.
