A map turtle is a turtle that lives in North America. It resembles the painted and slider turlre but if physical difference is that it has keels an the back of its shell. It is name because of the distinctive lines that cover it's back that looks like a rood map.

This is an aquatic turtle that is most commonly found in the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. It lives in rivers, lakes and ponds. The markings on the turtle look like the waterways on a map, which is where the name was developed from. It's markings are typically yellow and orange with dark-edged borders.

Map turtles have a shell that resembles intricate water ways. Females are larger than males and are found in the midwest. The skin is normally a dark olive color.
