One of the most popular in acoustic or bluegrass music is: I - IV - I - V. (Example: G - C - G - D) or another is I - IV - V - I (G - C - D - G). Most bluegrass songs are based on these two chord progressions.

Great progressions can be made by the creative use of dominant 7th chords such as C | B7 | Em | E7 | Am | D7 | G7
