front side bus is a data cable which allows data to flow on both sides, i. e. bidirectional. Since all the data in a computer flows through this, overall system performance depends mainly on it. generally it is represented in frequency. It communicate with other components through computer chipset. It is said as data transfers per tick.

Its basically a connection between your processor and your memory card. This is often ignored and may be a cause for bottle-necks. Basically although you may have lots of RAM, if your FSB is slow, then your processor cannot really read all that memory fast enough and you will still experience slowdowns.

A front side bus is the kind of bus that has the motor towards the actual front end of the bus.
