What happens the third time you get prosecuted for theft?

I am thinking of the "three strikes" rule.

It all depends on what kind of theft. If it was petty theft then you are still eligible for probation and a fine. However major theft has considerable jail time.

You will be handed down mandatory and extended prison time. If you have been previously convicted of a violent crime or serious felony, it will significantly increase your prison time. The first true "three strikes" law with no exceptions was passed in 1993.
