What happens if you put sugar into a car's gas tank?

It has been believed for decades that sugar doesn't dissolve in gasoline and spoils fuel lift pump and diables the car totally. But it is true for some extent only. If sugar enters the engine combustion channel then only the real problem begins as there is a combustion reaction between the sugar filled gasoline.

Well the sugar will problem probably get into the fuel lines and possible gum up the fuel pump of filter. If it dissolves then it could clog the fuel injectors.
